The title of this post says it all. Having not updated this blog in over a year, I have no excuses only that things like Facebook have diverted my attention away, but I am back. I will keep this brief. The kids are amazing, the loves of our lives and are thriving! We just had a great Halloween and when I was downloading pictures I felt the need to update the blog! We are all looking forward to an exciting year and will be preparing and educating ourselves for a potential new adoption in the next year. Stay tuned, ya’ll!

I can not believe how long it has been since I wrote on our blog!!!! You can only imagine how big Josh and Maya are now!!! Josh is still 3 and Maya is still 2 and they are both in preschool and having a blast. They are so smart and loving and kind and loud. I love all of it. I got their school pictures today and wanted to put them on our site! Love to all and Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Today, Joshua turned 3 years old. 3 years since this beautiful, perfect little boy became our son. It is so hard to believe. Hard to believe all that he does now compared to what he used to do and how those things have evolved and become big boy things. He is so smart, curious, energetic, athletic and super sweet and loving. He is no problem telling you how he feels and sometimes even has a hard time letting stuff go…hmmmm…..I wonder where he gets that from. Probably Steve :) We wrote birthmom a letter and got pictures made, amazing to me how difficult this process continues to be however I persevere and send what I need to send. Today we went to Josh’s new preschool that he will attend in the fall. He is so excited to go and actually asks if he can go to kindergarten instead but then reminds us and himself that he needs to be 5 to go to kindergarten. SO CUTE. He is an absolutely amazing child who we are so blessed to have. We love you Josh and happy happy 3rd birthday big boy!!!!
All our love,
Mommy, Daddy and Maya

What a great day. I am so grateful to be a mom. Not only that, but so blessed to be Josh and Maya’s mom. I love them so much and they made such a special day for me. I was greeted by hugs and kisses in bed this morning and they made me a special mommy book for my special day of great pics! Daddy helped also, which makes it even more special. This is my 3rd Mother’s Day and I still can’t believe I am a mom. I used to dread this day on the years I was trying so hard to be a mom but now all of that has changed. I love it and wouldn’t change one single thing about it.
Thanks Josh and Maya for letting me be your mom. I love you!!

Maya is 2 years old today! We can not believe she is 2 years old and more than that, we can not believe how incredibly fast her first two years went. Maya is absolutely amazing. She is wicked smart and such a love bug. She still loves to cuddle and kiss and hug. She is doing (trying) everything big brother Josh is doing and does all of those things fairly well!! We are celebrating today with family and a cake but the real festivities will take place in June for the big Josh and Maya birthday bash with Elmo! We love you Maya and stay as cute and sweet as you are. God bless your little heart.

We had a great snow day together on Friday. We built our first snowman together! We named him Jaba as in Jaba the hut because that is what he looks like! Just take a look at the picture below and you will see! The kids were really sick all week with the flu so it was a great way to get out there and kill all of those nasty germs and they had a great time and so did we!

How do they get this big, this fast? Every single moment of the day they are doing or saying something they never have before. Josh is so amazing. So smart. So adorable. He is just having full blown conversations about everything and anything and is so great with Maya. He is going on the potty more and more and becoming so independent. He loves to do everything himself. Maya is a big ham. She is the sweetest, most feminine little girl. She is so advanced and into everything Josh is into. They play really well together for the most part and if they are not playing together they are off doing their own things. Maya is talking up a storm, she is like a little parrot, she is so mushy and sweet and growing like a weed. We just adore them and I couldn’t be more in love.

Happy Hanukah and Merry Christmas! We hope you have had a wonderful holiday season. We have had a great holiday season. It is so amazing seeing the kids and how they react to the holidays each year. Each year, they are able to do a little more than they did last year, speak more, run more, yell more, pretend play more, just cute. SO cute. Josh saying, ” I love you so much Mommy” and Maya saying, ” I wove du mommy” is in my world, all I need. They are absolutely delicious, my children and I wove them also! They had a great time with all of their grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins and we are so excited for the years to come. Something about this holiday season had me wanting another baby, BAD. Steve wont come near me now that I have seriously said these words out loud, but he’ll get there! Hopefully 2008, will bring amazing gifts for us ( like we could be any more blessed) but new year, new home, new baby? I guess you will have to stay tuned. I will stay tuned also.
All our love for a peaceful, honest, loving and wonderful 2008!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our friends and family for whom we love dearly. We spent the day in the Poconos at the lake house which was fabulous. The kids were amazing, had their moments but were amazing and so adorable. We had a great thanksgiving dinner and I even got to play tennis today against my father in law, brother and law and my husband. It was great. I am so thankful this year for everything in my life. I am so grateful for my husband and our ability to communicate, good, bad or indifferent so we can continue to have the beautiful relationship that we have. I love you Steve. I am so thankful for my two little gifts from God, Josh and Maya. The sweetest things in my life and bring me back down to reality every time that I need it, put a smile on my face every time I dont have one, and fill my heart up with love and joy every single day of my life. When we went around the dinner table tonight and all said what we were thankful for, I said the obvious things, but then I said I was grateful for having choice. Choice is such a strong thing to have. We all have a choice. A choice to do the right thing or the wrong thing, to be nice or to be mean, etc etc. I often have to remind myself that I have a choice in every area of my life, all of the time. Which by the way is soooo empowering. I have a lot of faith today, faith that no matter what, everything will always be ok, not matter what my perspective may be. Anyway, I love my family, I love my life and love to you all on this very special day!

I know this blog is about Josh and Maya, BUT, I have to do it. Steve’s brother Jeff and our awesome sister in-law Rachel have been so blessed. After much adversity, they got a call early this week that they had been picked by a birthmom in Texas. They thought she was going to be induced next Monday, but it turns out she was induced the next day! They flew out their the next morning and met their beautiful baby girl who they have named Charlotte Rose. It is so unbelievably wonderful to be on the other side of this experience. Now I know exactly what everyone felt when we were blessed with Josh. The only word that I can think of to describe it is -magic. Complete and total magic. Birthmom is signing surrenders tonight and then they wait for interstate compact to go through. We can NOT wait to meet our new beautiful niece, Charlotte, Josh and Maya cant wait to meet their new cousin, Charlotte. They both say her name perfectly!!!!!!!!!!!!! We love you Charlotte and come home soon!

It really does seem like just yesterday I found out I was pregnant with Maya, so it is so hard to believe that this Saturday she will be 18 months old! She is so amazing and so beautiful and I am not just saying that. Her face as you can see by clicking on the link on the right side of the screen that says “Recent Flickr Photos” is breathtaking. She is talking so much in her cute little voice and all she wants to do is everything her big brother is doing. She is so independent, she wants to do everything by herself so she can say, ” I did it” when she is all done. Josh and Maya are great together. Dont get me wrong, they have their moments but for the most part they play well together and when they need their own space, they take it and play independently. It is really awesome. Josh is doing great, using the potty all of the time (there is a pic in there of him doing just that) talking up a storm, having full conversations and he is really making sense of what he is talking about it. Sooo cute. They are both so excited about Halloween. Josh is going to be a pumpkin and Maya a kitten. Super Cute. So, Happy 18 month birthday Maya -we all love you very much!!
Filed under Uncategorized | Comment (0)2nd Gotcha Day
Tomorrow, 9/22 is our families second Gotcha Day!! 2 years ago our adoption for our baby boy Joshua was finalized. I cant believe it has been two years already. We will be in the Poconos for Yom Kippur with Steve’s family but we will celebrate this special day, all day with our entire family. Such a special time it is celebrating his finalization and remembering that magical time as we became a family. Joshua is wonderful, growing so fast, he is so smart, so articulate, so bright. I am so grateful. I am however struggling with the dialogue that needs to start happening between us and Joshua regarding his adoption. I know it does not have to be anything intense but even breaking it down into its most simple form is even difficult. We read books, sometimes I will throw in a “lets pray for your birthmother” and he looks at me weird, so note to all prospective adoptive couples -nothing about this is easy -but nothing could be more wonderful. I have been talking about his Gotcha Day coming up and he repeats me like a parrot. I will continue to keep my heart and mind open to beginning this dialogue with him. Without sounding to much like Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City -I cant help but wonder -”why do we have to talk about adoption, when nothing in my entire life has felt more natural?” Meaning- not one part of me feels like he did not come from my body. It is an amazing experience, a difficult experience, and an experience I would never, ever change one minute of.
Happy Gotcha Day Josh - we continue to fall more in love with you as each day passes and thank you for being ours.
